The Medical University of Gdansk (MUG) was founded in 1945 and is the largest MBBS university in northern Poland. It is located in one of the most beautiful cities in Europe, with an old town and stunning sandy beaches. MUG is recognized by the WHO, MCI, and many other international professional groups. It is the first medical university in the country to rank among the top ten best Polish universities, coming in 8th place. The university employs an advanced system of education, using updated technology to train students in medical studies. MUG embraces high-tech methods of practical medicine, empowering students to be focused, competitive, and flexible in the global market. The university offers various courses and faculties, including the Faculty of Medicine, Faculty of Pharmacy with Sub-faculty of Laboratory Sciences, Faculty of Health Sciences with Sub-faculty of Nursing and Institute of Maritime and Tropical Medicine, the Intercollegiate Faculty of Biotechnology of the University of Gdansk and the Medical University of Gdansk. There are over one thousand academic teachers, with over one hundred holding the professor position, who carry out all the teaching activities. Currently, the university offers education in nearly all medical professions. Classes are also conducted in English for their students, through the English Division of the Faculty of Medicine.

The institute is renowned for its exceptional infrastructure and quality facilities, including spacious and comfortable hostels, modern classrooms, and well-stocked libraries. The campus also boasts a friendly and healthy environment, with various activity centers such as a gym and sports complex. The university places a strong emphasis on the overall development of its students and offers numerous personality development programs like seminars, debates, conferences, and student exchange programs. Additionally, the university organizes various sports and cultural events to encourage student participation.

The MUG is dedicated to continually improving its clinical and teaching facilities, with the University Clinical Centre undergoing successful modernization in 2011. The Invasive Medicine Centre (IMC), the main hospital, is one of the most advanced medical facilities in Europe. The MUG has also invested in the Non-Invasive Medicine Centre (NIMC), resulting in one of the largest and most advanced hospital complexes in Poland. The NIMC and IMC offer a range of clinics, including Obstetrics, Neonatology, Gynaecology, Oncologic Gynaecology and Endocrinology, Transplantation, Nephrology, and Internal Diseases, as well as 1st and 2nd Cardiology Clinics, spread over six floors.

The Medical University of Gdansk is providing an affordable medicine program aimed at preparing doctors for both nearby and distant countries. The university has four faculties - the Faculty of Health Sciences, the Faculty of Medicine, the Faculty of Pharmacy, and the Intercollegiate Faculty of Biotechnology - and educates over 6000 undergraduate and postgraduate students. They offer a range of programs including the Premedical Course, Medicine Doctor Program, Pharmacy Program, and Nursing Program, which are taught entirely in English. With over 15% of their students being international, the MUG has a significant number of foreign students in Gdansk, most of whom come from Sweden, Norway, India, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, and Spain. The university has over 50 partnerships with universities and scientific centers worldwide, and they actively exchange students and teachers through the Lifelong Learning Program. Additionally, the MUG is a member of various European organizations and institutions, and they are founding members of ScanBalt and the Baltic Sea Region University Network.
